What do I use ALTRUIS for?
ALTRUIS is designer wearable technology to help you stay focused and present in the moment. With ALTRUIS, you’ll better understand your digital habits and improve your relationship with your smartphone, helping you find the middle ground between being connected and disconnected, so that you can focus on the people and things that truly matter in your life. Controlled using the ALTRUIS app, you receive alerts with subtle vibrations for your texts, WhatsApp messages, emails, calendar events and calls.
What is the ALTRUIS stone made of?
Your ALTRUIS stone has been handcrafted from premium zirconia ceramic for the highest quality. Gemologically (and economically), it is the closest material to diamonds, making it highly durable yet aesthetically beautiful.
Is ALTRUIS water-resistant?
Of course, we’re based in London! ALTRUIS is rain, splash and sweat proof. However, we do not recommend submerging it in water or any deep diving! Also, note that prolonged exposure to salt water or chemically treated water will reduce water resistance.

Is my personal information kept private?
In the ALTRUIS app, Profiles enable you to customise which contacts and notification types you'd like to filter. The app allows you to set up two different Profiles: 'Work' and 'Family' by default. You can change these to whatever suit your life best, for example 'work', 'play', 'inner circle', 'weekend', or whatever you like. To set up profiles, you can follow the tutorials in the app. Here is an overview:
Note regarding email notifications: ensure you have the contact’s email address and other important contact information saved in your iOS address book. All changes to numbers and email addresses should be made via your iOS address book.
Your ALTRUIS scans for your two secret words in text messages, WhatsApp messages and subject lines of your emails. Your ALTRUIS stone will vibrate accordingly so you can gauge how urgently you need to respond.
Which platforms and devices does ALTRUIS support?
Our system currently supports iOS only: iPhone 4s, 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6+, 6S, 6S+ running iOS 8 .1 or above with support for Bluetooth Smart. We are currently working on supporting Android, please subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed on future releases.
Where can I get the Altruis app?
The ALTRUIS app can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store.
Which notifications can I filter through to my ALTRUIS stone?
There are plenty to choose from: messages, iOS calendar events, phone calls, emails, WhatsApp messages and WhatsApp group messages. Please note that your phone must have 'push notifications' turned in order for your ALTRUIS stone to alert you. If you would like to know how to turn on push notifications, refer to 'setting up the stone' section.
How do I update the ALTRUIS App?
To update the app, open the App Store on your iPhone and click on updates in the lower right hand corner. See if there is a pending update for your 'Altruis' app, and simply select ‘update’.
What is firmware?
We’re pleased you’re curious about this. Firmware is the software built within your ALTRUIS stone.
Why must I update the firmware on my ALTRUIS?
ALTRUIS is a product that is continually being improved and enhanced. Please ensure you take advantage of all updates, as this is important for the functioning of the app and ability for your ALTRUIS jewellery to pair with your smartphone. The app will notify you when it’s time to update the firmware on your stone and you can do so from within the application.
How long does the battery life last?
Long live ALTRUIS! We’re excited to announce the battery life is 4 to 6 weeks (depending on usage, of course). The charger is included with your purchase and is designed to be small and portable for the world-traveller.
How do I charge my ALTRUIS stone?
To charge the stone, simply connect the magnetic pins on your ALTRUIS stone to your computer USB port using the charging cable provided in your packaging.
How long does my ALTRUIS stone take to charge?
We recommend fully charging your stone overnight for the first time. After that, each additional charge should take just 2 to 3 hours.
The ALTRUIS cannot be connected to more than one iPhone simultaneously. You must therefore remove the connection between your phone and the stone before somebody else is able to connect. Please follow these simple steps:

Please follow the steps below to make sure your settings are correct.
N.B. Please note that IOS email notifications sometimes take up to 20 minutes to filter through to ALTRUIS.
When I try to register my ALTRUIS in the app, it says: "Looking for device - Place your jewellery next to your smartphone". What do I do?
Please review the following scenarios:
ALTRUIS appears to be disconnected. Why can't I reconnect?
Why won’t my ALTRUIS stone upgrade firmware?
Make sure your ALTRUIS stone is as close as possible to your iPhone. If your upgrade doesn’t start, wait at least 30 seconds before you try again. Or, try quitting the app and re-launching it.
